FLYAWAY FARM OBERHASLI

We are breeding for a stylish dairy animal with lots of width, level top lines & rumps AND sound feet and legs. Udders of course, have to be very well attached with good teat placement. We aren't stressing production, but we need them to milk decently on an erratic schedule and limited alfalfa.

Our Oberhasli herd started with an outstanding grade doe and her daughter acquired from our good friend Jennifer Wright of Wayfarer Oberhasli. We could not have been more pleased with Esprit. We have enjoyed Esprit so much we have kept more Obers than we had planned.

Wayfarer Esprit's Elegance 3*M   3-11-2000  - 75% Grade, Correct Oberhasli coloring; wattles

A small, very elegant doe linebred on Avalon. Elegance is 7 this year and despite a rough start this spring she is back to showing and milking well!

She was JCH & RJCH at the Newport Fair in 2000 & 2001 as a dry and has had several nice placements over the years, including a first at State Fair in 2002, a first with best udder at Benton Fair in 2003, a second at Oregon State Fair 2004,  a RGCH at 2005 Newport Fair, a second and RGCH at State Fair 05, a 1st and RGCH at 2006 Linn Fair in 105 degree heat, and most recently  GCH at both the 2007 Linn and Benton Fairs! 

We are extremely pleased with the daughters she has given us, all of which have been sired by Bonanza.

Flyaway EB Grace   2-16-04  -  American, Correct coloring

Grace is very elegant and stylish with a long level topline, silky skin and a very pleasing mammary. Grace has really filled out this year and is looking and milking well. She only got to show once as a kid, and was 1st and RJCH at the 04 Oregon State fair.  In 05 Grace was third at Lincoln County Fair,  1st, RGCH and Best Udder at the Lane County Fair and second with first udder at Oregon State Fair. In 2006 she was been 1X1st, 1X2nd and 1XGCH.  So far in 2007 she has been 2x1st, 1x3rd, 2xBU, 1xGCH & 1xRGCH

Flame is a dry yearling. Shown twice in 2007 she has been 1x1st and 1x2nd

She is bred to Rojo for April Kids

Blaze was RJCH the only time shown in 2006 and JCH the only time shown in 2007.

Flyaway EB Spirit   4-06  -  American, Correct coloring

Spirit is a very pretty attractive yearling that has freshened with a very nice mammary. She is not a very big doe, but this line seems to mature slowly and is well worth the wait. She was  2X1st and 1xJCH in 2006 as a kid and has been 2xst, 1x3rd and 1xRGCH as a milking yearling.

Iris is a big growthy kid with a lot of substance and correctness. She has been 2x2nd  in 2007
She is possibly bred mini lamancha!

Ludwig's Mohawk Ro'jo Red  3-28-04  -  dark bay 

We got Rojo to use on the Bonanza daughters. He is a refined, correctly built buck. His only fresh daughter "Licorice Whip" turned out quite nicely. He also has some very nice mini kids in Cheryl Smith's Mystic Acres herd. We have 2 more kids from him this year that we are quite pleased with and he will again be bred to most of the does this fall.  His dam Flash is pictured below left, she finished her CH this year as a 7 year old! His GDam Nutmeg pictured on right.

Ludwig's Mohawk TU Neko  3-3-07  -  dark bay 

We got Neko to use on Rojo and Bonanza daughters. He is a refined, long bodied, correctly built buck. We liked Tumaini's pedigree as it  goes back to Avalon and his dam Natasha has many related animals to both Rojo's  and Elegance's family, but yet is not too close.  Natasha is pictured below, she won 2 CH legs at Roseburg this year and only needs one more to finish!
